Dinton Closes to Day Anglers - 05 December 2007 - Back

Due to the threat of KHV in the area Dinton Pastures will be closed to Day Ticket anglers, probably for at least the next two years.

In the words of Simon Bartlam, who runs the complex:

"Because of the khv issue at burghfield we have decided we have to take
steps to protect our fishery- specifically from sources we have little
control over.

We can vet all specimen group members ,day season ticket holders and
guests because they can be contacted and even sign in each time they
visit the site so we can ensure that they all abide by restrictions in
place ( no livebaits or wet nets etc brought onto the fishery)- we do
not have this control over day anglers who in effect come and go as they
please.

Because of the nature of the virus I would imagine that this restriction
will be in place for at least the next 2 years.

With the possibility of flooding in the burghfield area likely and the
amount of these waters open for fishing we believe anglers have a strong
chance of coming into contact with infected fish and that will open up
the possibility of them transferring the virus to new waters .
