It's been a grim winter so far for anyone wanting to sit in the sun but of course the mild wet and windy weather is better for fishing then frozen lakes. With spring on the horizon it's fingers crossed that the KHV threat, which came to the fore in the autumn with a number of high profile fisheries hit, doesn't prove to have serious repurcussions come warmer weather. Sadly crossed fingers won't do much. Whilst some anglers dry/disinfect their nets between fishing different waters not all do so we can all play our part with a bit of vigilance. And of course there is an organisation helping to fund research into combating these threats. Yes good old Echo. So if you can, give them your support.
The site is getting busier and busier and we've had more great contributions, cheers all, but of course more are always welcome so if you think your area of the country is under represented do get in touch. We always welcome new galleries from other areas of the country, our emphasis of course being on those Big British Historical lumps. Anyway, so get in touch if you can help.

With the dangers of Weils disease well publicised it's not a suprise that most of us choose not to fill the kettle from the lake or river. Added to algal bloom, silt etc. it's none to appealing a prospect. However that might not be the case anymore with the advent of modern water filters that can supposedly leave even the muddiest water as clear and clean as the tap water at home.
